I’ve owned and run a small business, worked in real estate, and spent time at the ATO. It’s an odd combination on paper and a useful one in practice.
Running a business myself means I understand cash flow and risk from the inside rather than from a set of financials. Working in property means I know what actually happens between a contract being signed and a settlement occurring, including the parts that go wrong.
I’ve also done residential flips of my own, so if you’re buying something that needs work and trying to figure out how to fund it sensibly, that’s a conversation I enjoy.
